Now, I'm not complaining, mind you.

But, I've got 30 acres of hay on the ground that needs baling, 10 acres of bales to pick up, another patch that still needs cut, 350 acres of summer fallow to walk across and the wheat is ripening very fast; gotta get that combine ready.

Been sittin' here since 3am with nothing to do 'cause it rained all night and I can't even get to the farm without the 4X4 engaged.

Think the smart thing to do is just go back to bed. :>)

Are you ready to start thing of a second cutting yet? Maybe that's something that shouldn't be mentioned because of scareing the rain off.

My hay baled, needs hauling.

My wheat is ripening too. The heads haven't started to tip yet so probably a couple of weeks away from harvest. Won't take long to combine 4 acres, even with my old Allis 60.

Allan that farmin thing for you is turning into a career instead of a hobby real fast.

If I didn't have 450 acres of beans to get sprayed, I'd come out and make a few laps for ya.

We got a lot of rain thru June also but been dry now for 10 days and drying fast with the 30 MPH winds we had each of the last 4 days.

Keep that rain comin this way will ya.

I did get all 6 acres of my hay baled. First time in my life I got my first cutting raked, baled and put away in one day.

I finished spraying corn fields yesterday about 5:00 pm. Came home and looked at all the buds and blossoms on my alfalfa here and thought it looked good for second cutting. Hooked up the MOCO but here in SD the hottest part of the day is about 5:30. So I decided to knock it down as soon as it dried in the morning.
Got up this morning to the same big frontal rain Allen is getting. So it's bact to plan B, which is to finish of the paint prep for the SHII grill on the bench in the shop.
Maybe order those lights OEM is hawking in their spam email today?

Yea, and this is the time of the year when my relatives used to all way came to visit. Wondered why I was out of sorts.
Got inch and a quarter of rain yesterday with wind that laid over my tomatoes.

We've had all of 3/10 of an inch of rain since May 15- things are drying up fast here, 90 degrees yesterday and same forecast for today. My hay guy's crew quit on him at about 3 yesterday afternoon, so me and my two sons put in last night's trailer load. One to go, and I'm bribing them to help again, with buffalo burgers and all the fixin's after the parade tomorrow.

Meanwhile, the Mrs., for whom all this hay is necessary (well, only 600 bales, but seems like a lot at 4 bucks per), is at the Calgary Stampede with 3 of her riding buddies. Believe she's gonna need to stay a little closer to home next year during hay season.

Burn ban starts Tuesday, so will be burning the brush piles today.

I finally finished my first cutting yesterday. Raked and baled 50 acres myself. Did pretty good, almost five bales to the acre. Anyone want to help move bales? About the latest I've ever been on first crop. Most of the dairy farmers were doing their second cutting this week. Now I have 40 acres of oats to cut for hay then its back to the hay again. Its getting dry here again to, no significant rain for two weeks. I guess I missed it Allan, what was wrong with the H not running?

Oh,

The darned hydraulic pump seal leaks when I use the loader for heavy work.

Overfiills the engine with oil and kills the plugs. After I drained that extra gallon and a half of oil out of 'er, let it sit overnight and the next morning it popped right off.

Gotta do something different there. Maybe yank the loader and make a hay rake tractor out of 'er. :>)

I have a better idea.

Come out here sometime and we'll go over to Alliance to the monthly jam session. No equipment needed, they'll even provide you a set of sticks.

Heck with this farmin' fer awhile. :>)

Going to be 100 here today wanted to get an early start but the wife has other ideas. Women just don't understand the needs of the Farmer.

Allan; alot of hay was down in western NE over last week end. Wife hid the map so I am lost. We drove from Omaha to Scotsbluf. Alot of fields were wet.

How far are you from Aliance? It is a mess when you have to get the hay cured out all the time. Anyway, you be careful and have some fun.

Have not even started to hay here in NH. 10.4 inches of rain in the last 35 days. Tractor is sinking in the hay field were its parked, on the highest spot. Can't even cut firewood sank the M up to the seat just trying to back up to the log. Maybe next week before we get 3 days without rain.
