Don't like leaving my tractor

I was doing a mowing job 25 mi from home. I didn't get finished. I didn't want to haul my tractor and mower back over state police patroled roades, (As bad as Calif needs money I'm sure they will find something if stopped), and return in the morning, so I left my tractor, and trailer in the field. I parked them so it can't be seen fron the road, so it should be there in the morning. A few years ago I left my crawler tractor, and disc parked near a school, and some kids poured water down the stack. Anyone have any horrer stories about damage by vandals? Stan

had a friend that was running his cat dozer in a gravel pit. he 'went out one morning and had sand in fuel. cleaned fuel tank' replaced filters lit it up and was doing his thing after about 5 min. he spun a rod bearing seems the kids had put sand in his crankcase also. that was the day I put pad locks on all caps on my rig even the oil dipstick.

Years ago I saw a backhoe that had been just trashed overnite - 4 flat tires, hoses cut, etc. Someones stupid prank cost a lot of $$$$$$$.

Had a customer last year who had granular fertilizer poured in to the hyd/trans oil filler of his John Deere 5525N. Completly stuffed it. I looked at it on a Friday at his vineyard,he was jumping up and down, going to take JD to court the lot, untill I showed him the trans oil that I had drained out. By the time it arrived at our workshop on the following Monday afternoon the tractors rear wheels would not rotate as the bearings in the trans were siezed, we had to skid it off the lorry with a traded JD 6610. I rebuilt the tractor, the owner had a successfull insurance claim. The 5525N had 34 (yes, thirty four) hours on the clock. I now know my way round a JD 5525 trans and hydraulic system pretty good!

I have the same problem Stan,

Only, in my case, it's 'cause I can't remember where I left the goofy things the next morning. :>)

Don't know why you didn't just bring it home. Once the trailer is hooked up, it doesn't take me more than 15 min. to load a tractor. You probably drove the trailer home anyway.

once something happens like that , JUST AS WELL SCRAP IT ,, 1975 , had some kids robbing lumber to build a tree house,,and generally turnin the house we had under construction into a flop house at nite ...The general contractor I was workin for raised a fuss with the parents ,,Things ONLY GOT WORSE ,,Mean little sun /-iches. Parents were no better .
Cops were useless , Even Though property was Posted No TRESPASSING ,Cops claimed they had to catch them physically on the property , The treehouse lumber could be viewed as conjecture ,And Besides all they Could charge them with was a misdemeanor.. SAID ><Best to Ignore them And try to be Friendly and not antagonize them, WTH !......The only reason they didn't burn the place is they knew that would get them thrown in JAIL ... Lost an hour each day lockin down the job and securing and opening back up .
a Month went by ,We warned the poor septic guy who left his Nice CASE backhoe there overnite.. 2nd day the hydraulics went ,,, full of DIRT SAND nails ,,..He Made repairs fixed it for a year . Run a week ,then Something else wrong , And So On ,,Finally traded it ..
realized early on ,Dad was right about some of the cops out there.....And Some folks Just are no dam good....

Cops are worthless pieces of feces, they take the easiest way out they can find, when a real crime has been committed, but when the have the chance to get someone that presents NO threat, they are all over them, like stink on feces.
They learn their trade from watching the television and movies that glorify illegal searches, beatings of suspects, violations of an individual's Constitutional rights, car chases, arresting and harassing those they know to be innocent, perjuring themselves under oath, oh my yes, law enforcement are the salt of the earth.
The deserve whatever happens to them.

I left my trailer also. Lots of traffic, and long steep hills that gives my old F350 a real work out. Stan

Do you have trouble finding your vehicle when you come out of a store? I do occasionally and my kids have a field day with the 'old' jokes :>).

Worked for a farmer that was buying up a quite a bit of land back in the 70s. Aparently some of the neighbors didn't like that so they put dirt and grass in the fuel tank of the JD 7520. Started it the next morning to warm it up and it died after a short while. Changed filters and cleaned fuel lines. drained fuel tank and rinsed it out best we could but we still fought with that for weeks after.
