I believe that one of our forum members, [b:654c4848f0]gitrib[/b:654c4848f0], celebrates his [b:654c4848f0]80th[/b:654c4848f0] birthday on July 3rd.

Since Nancy and I will be leaving for the farm tonight, we want to wish you a Happy Birthday.

Hope that you have a good day tomorrow with your family and friends.

Are you going to be doing stuff with your tractors ?? if so I hope you take pictures again ...

Really enjoy the pictures and video from your haying ...

Be save and enjoy your long week-end ...

Mark

We plan on baling a small field we call "The Corner" during the holiday weekend.

It is primarily Bahia grass and about 1% weed.

Nancy sprayed it and killed out alot of the unwanted stuff.

It will make good cow hay for somebody in the community.

We'll post pictures and videos after we return on Monday night.

Hope you and your family have a good July 4th and be safe.

Thanks Jim & Nancy. It seem's like a long time. I have had so many learning experiences that when I tell people they do not want to beleave me. It has been wonderful and I expect to be around for quite a while. Thanks to all.

hey james, i'll pss along some of my new experiences haying with my new to me 14t deere baler.
1- if the twine knives are dull, it ties every third bale.
2- if you windrow too big, the baler really doesnt like it and shears the flywheel bolt.
3- if the knives in the bale chamber are dull, it will shear the flywheel bolt.
4- if you have a dozen shear bolts, you'll need 13
5- a farmall h doesnt like pulling the 14t (gonna use the m next time)
6- as soon as you get the hay raked and start baling, it rains for a week regardless what the weatherman says
7- wet moldy windrowed hay really smells bad
8- square baling by yourself without a thrower is a pain in the butt. i now understand the logic in round bales!!!!!!
9- the baler doesnt like sharp left turns. really chatters the pto shaft.
10- people that volunteer to help you make hay dont show up!!!!

Your a good man Graydon.

Remember that 80 candles is a lot; y'all be careful and don't catch something on fire!

Glad to hear from you again [b:654c4848f0]glennster[/b:654c4848f0]; starting to worry about you.

I'll compare some of what you've said with my experience with our Krone round balers:

if the twine knives are dull, two rolls of twine are used up tying one bale.

if you windrow too big, the baler pushes hay to the top of the tractor seat.

if the automatic twine tie works perfectly at the shop, it fails on the first bale in the field.

if you have two 13mm wrenches, put three of them in the twine box.

if I'm thinking about using Nancy's 48A to run a baler, best not to mention it to her.

as soon as you get the hay raked and start baling, somebody drives onto your field and asks if you want to sell it.

a dead stray cat really smells bad in your hay barn.

pulling out a large, stuck round bale by yourself without hay hooks is a pain in the butt. i now understand the logic in square bales!!!!!!

the baler doesn't like sharp left or right turns, everything chatters.

people that show up, volunteer information on how you're baling it the wrong way.

Good to hear from you again.

Hope you and your family have a good 4th of July; be safe.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY hope you have 80 more. I would be glad to listen to your stories. One thing I have learned is truth can be stranger and more entertaining than fiction.
