Hockey pucks for motor mounts?

anybody ever used hockey pucks to replace worn motor and transmission mounts?

Will they stand up to oil?
 
Mad Fabricators [vol3 maybe] Not the cheap soft ones but the Czech or Canadian made.They mount an early hemi in a model A with them.
 
They are rubber, not synthetic Neoprene, or oil resistant. They are way too hard (durometer rating). There will be so much vibration you will think it was welded in place. Sidewall, or tread from tires is somewhat better, but not much. Go junkyard shopping and use real mounts. Even if not in the original unit. Also be sure the mount failure will not open the throttle. Chevy got into that mess and had a major recall. JimN
 
They're too stiff, as said before they'll vibrate like crazy. Have used pucks for body mounts OK, wouldn't recommend them for an engine or tranny.

Tell me about that one. 65 Chevy Impla, red 2 door hardtop, 283 three on the column. Pulled out of a gravel drive turning left. Tire spun untill it caught on the pavement. Not only did the throttle hang wide open but the clutch knuckle between the engine and frame dropped out. And away we went. I turned the switch off and the engine dropped back down on the broken mount. I was able to drive it home without the clutch (before synchronization). Then to the Chevy dealership. They put a new motor mount plus a cable that bolted to the engine and went around the frame and bolted back to the engine.
Something to think about when pucking something up. David............
 
Ford trucks use a mount that will work.3 in dia.Ford cars and trucks used a 4 in mount 1933 on They have a steel mounting cup and large flat washer.Buy them from antique parts dealers.
