FARMALL 460 HYDRAULICS

MY FARMALL 460 BOGGS DOWN UNLESS I MOVE A HYDRAULIC LEVER.ENGINE ALMOST DIES IF AN ATTACHMENT IS ON.DOESN"T MATTER IF OPERATING TEMP OR NOT.
PLEASE HELP!! THANK YOU

LIKE I WAS SAYING,ENGINE IDLES GOOD BUT IF I DRIVE THE TRACTOR ENGINE LOOSES POWER UNTIL I MOVE A LEVER FOR THE HYDRAULICS THEN ENGINE RUNS NORMAL.THE FIRST TIME I NOTICED IT I HAD BUSH HOG ON AND IT ALMOST KILLED THE ENGINE.I'M SORRY IF THAT'S NOT MUCH HELP BUT BASICALLY THAT'S WHAT IT IS DOING

Get yourself an owners manual or shop manual from tractor supply.

Under the cowl in front of the steering wheel are the means to set your hydraulic control from single action cylinders to dual action cylinders. The setting is drifting somewhere in between the two and bogging down your engine. I have the same problem on my 350 sometimes.

It's very hard to describe (for me anyway) without the pictures provided in the owners manual. Someone else more familar with the system can probably describe it better.

I don't know anything about farmalls but you have a pump dead heading it sounds like. Got any quick connects in the system? Is the 3 pt lift traveling too far up and causing the pump to dead head? FEL, remotes? There's and obstruction someplace or a valve problem.

If it continues to do this it will eventually blow your hydraulic pump. The pressure relief valves aren't supposed to operate continuously.

It is possible that one of the valves used to select one-way or two-way is out of position. If not, you have one of many possible problems causing your regulator valve or safety valve to remain on high pressure rather than opening to allow low pressure when not in use. Could be stripped gears, sheared key or excessive leakage in a remote valve, or a damaged screen, plugged orifice or sticky spool in the regulator valve. Could also be the adjustment of the draft linkage for the FastHitch, if so equipped. Get a manual and check the one-way valve and draft linkage adjustment first. Seems like some site called Royal Cross Farms?? has a pretty good walk-through of the valve assemblies if you have to go that far. Good Luck, they can be a little frustrating sometimes.
