How can you tell the after market wide front end's from the original farmall. Late 40's to early 50's Thanks, stan

I believe the originals had the tierod out front of the axle & the aftermarkets were behind the axle...which I prefer anyway...wont get bent as easy.

Here is the early IH wide front on my M. Later IH switched to the wide front with the rid rods behind the front axle, the later wide front came out on the Stage II Super H. The Scwartz wide front is probably the most popular aftermarket wide front. It has the tie rods behind the axle. Allan in NE should have pictures of the Schwartz.

Schwartz wide front had "L" shaped tabs bolted on top for turn stops to stop the wheels from turning too short

My wheel hubs do not have the spoke look. They are solid, and appear to need a open center wheel, with lock tabs, does that mean anything? stan

Thanks for the picture. From the picture and some other info I determined my front end is a farmall with the tie rods out front, and with struts going back to the frame. My tractor is a 54 400 diesel. The front end looks a little different than the one pictured. Stan

This is the best front axle picture on my Photobucket site.

I suggest that you learn to use the on-line parts book at caseih.com. It is a good reference point for doing parts identification.

Pay no nevermind to the front fast hitch. It's one of a kind.
