Ford 5500 Backhoe

Transmission is leaking fluid out of the cover at the bottom of the ring gear at the rear of the engine.Is this a seal in the torque converter? do I have to remove the engine to fix this? unit wont move because leak is very prolific.

You've got one of those ?? Thats been an ongoing problem with the 5500 and 5550 backhoes..After you fix it, You will notice the engine doesn't line up as well as it could..Like there's an interference angle going on there..Probably front pump housing bushing and seal problem..Yes , you do have to split the tractor to repair it..
