Just bought a 4010 with a stuck clutch. Anyone out there have any tricks that might break a clutch loose without splitting the tractor? It has been sitting for almost 2 years.

Take the fly wheel cap off and spray the heck out of the clutch mechanism with brake parts cleaner ,, after a few days treatments drive it around with clutch pedal down,,, got anytree stumps you want to pull?? .. thats a perfect job ... My 3010 used to pull this joke on Me occassionaly ,,,Used to park it with a block of wood holding down the clutch...

It doesn"t seem like a good idea to try to pull a tree stump with a stuck clutch.

Tie the pedal down; start it up (in Park); walk off and leave it running at high idle; vibration will shake it loose. Probably take 10-15 minutes, but could be an hour or more.

Don't know about the 4010 specifically, but with many tractors, if you take the starter off, it gives you enough room to get a "tool" in there to work the disk loose from the flywheel (with the clutch pedal tied down, of course). The "tool" is the kitchen knife your wife is least attached to, heated and bent at a right angle 3 or 4 inches from the end. Most wives will tolerate the loss of one knife, at most, so save it for the next go-around.

Just freed one up on a Massey 85 .Got it started in low gear, ran it down a hill to get high gear, ran up and down the road with clutch in while tapping brakes and it came free.
