Honor Flight....

This past saturday, I had the honor of being a guardian on Honor Flight, from Dayton Ohio to Washington DC. My 90 old grandfather, a WWII veteran, was also on the trip. About 35 WWII vets were on our trip, and about 10 Guardians. For those whom dont know, Honor Flight is a privte funded program that takes WWII vets to Washington DC to see the new WWII monument. Now that the monument is complete, Honor flight is trying to get as many vets to the monument as fast as they can to see it before they pass on. It was truley a awesome trip. We flew to Balitmore, got on a bus and went to the WWII monument, Iwo Jima monument, Vietnam monument, Korean monument, Lincon Memorial, Arlington national cemetary, Changing of the Guard at the tomb of the unknown soldiars, and Air force memorial. Truley a awsome experiance, especially with my grandfather. When we arrived at Baltimore, there was a large group of people there to greet us, shaking the veterans hands, thanking them for their service. Throughout the day, people walked up and thanked the vets for their service. If anyone knows of a WWII vet who has not been to the WWII monument, Look up HONOR FLIGHT. It is a free trip to veterans, cost about 275 to be a guardian, but the guardian spaces fill up fast.

THANK YOU VETERANS!!!!!

I am really glad that your Grandfather got to go. Sounds like you had a good trip. I hope to go see "The Wall" someday.
BY the way what was wrong with your powerstroke that you had a problem with? DH

Yes, the trip was very neat....

The powerstroke, well, Never really found anything. I kept fartin around with it, and it would start and run, then just die....kept this up for 2 days....finally, it started and ran, kept running and was fine. Kept it close to the shop for a couple days, short trips....I have put about 2500 miles on since then, and no problems yet.....hecked if I know....I think it was evil demon spirits.....

Good for you!

You are very fortunate to have your grandfather and the opportunity to share the trip with him.

Just within the past couple of weeks, Honor Flight has made several trips from Shreveport, LA to Washington D.C.

All the activities were televised from start to finish by the local TV station.

Nancy and I always stop to shake hands with both veterans and soldiers in uniform and thank them for their service.

Went to Tractor Supply early Saturday morning in Greenville, TX on my way to a graveside service.

There was an elderly man at the checkout counter wearing a WWII VETERAN hat.

Walked up and shook his hand and thanked him for his service.

Got a great big smile from him and and a "thank you" from his wife.

Made my day.

I am glad to see this program is working, a lot of private , buisness, & Veteran org's help this
Honor Flight which is on-going. I would hope all wwII vets can get this flight.
