Looking to buy an 450 case dozer about a mid 70's. Owner says if it is park up hill it will loose its prime, and after it is hot about an hour or two of work if ideal down and not pointed down hill too. But say you can run it all day with no problem. Is it just an suction problem or something else, tc or transmission? Also is their anything I should look for as a weak point on the dozer. Thanks any info will be great

Sounds like you gotta pin hole in the fuel line somewhere letting it loose suction . I had a prob. like that once on my TD9 once .

Do you mean trans/tc losing prime & stops pulling? check all suction hose plumbing & filter screen-lotsa metal here can mean trouble--

Replace the seal in the transmission pump ,or
the other possibility is the suction hose from
the filter to the pump . But most likely the
seal in the pump.

I haven"t seen the dozer stop, but the way the owner tells it has no transmission pressure or torqe pressure. He just pulls the nose of the dozer down hill and has to let cool down (like the next day?). Then starts it up and everything works again. The undercarriage is worn out but the price isn"t to bad. I have got prices for the complete undercarriage Berco and Itm and Trek.
