We had our first ever butt buggy puls at our show last weekend.
You know the old saying "you might be a redneck if"

Was a bit hesitant to open this, what with all the spam lately, but it looks kinda fun. Wonder how my old handi-ho would do at this event? Probably not very well--only 1.5 or so hp, but a fun little rig for leveling driveways, filling in ruts, cultivating and such!

I can tell you that my sled will only handle 600 lbs. and it took about 450 lbs to stop the little single wheel garden tractors.

Of course--whatever could you be thinking? Rake on the back is homemade but works nicely, and is considerably more aggressive than a hand rake for smoothing out gravel and such.

Cool applicaiton of 8020! I don't suppose 8020 has that sled in thier catalog? What did it autoquote at?

We use TONS of 8020 stuff.

I'm trying to figure out why you would make a pulling sled out of aluminum. Seems like a pulling sled isn't someplace you'd look to save weight.

I realize I've just looked at these photos but just what "is" a "butt buggy?" Google, while returning some results, gave nothing very definitive. Are there classes, perhaps lbs/ cubic inch? Engine setback? Limits on head porting, valve timing, or compression ratio? Can we run any fuel we can get past TSA?

Good question Fred
The origional idea was to build a pulling sled that would work with stock pedal tractors and the youngest of drivers. Therefor its aluminum with spring loaded casters on the pan.

I have talked to 80/20 this morning regaurding the catalog. As far as the auto quote goes, I have been buying stuff for this project for 5 years now. I can only guess what the final price of materials would be.

The term butt buggy I heard years ago. I guess it comes from all the people that would rather sit on there butt and ride around than walk? I am one of those people :)

This was our first attempt at this. We didnt really have any rules, but I can tell you that I woul not been able to stop much more of a machine with my sled.

You probably don't want to know.

I like the 'no rules" part. I personally use the "anything goes until someone gets hurt" rule.

I'm thinking a twin Onan on a Simplicity trans, cut the tire and fill for weight, racing gas in Buell carbs, chrome staright pipes, oh yeah!
