Car warranty robocall scammers busted

Now the challenge will be to give them a long sentence. They will probably get off with a fifty year sentence with no less than two years manadatory because they didn't do anything to threaten people's lives. And they will be directed to pay back $1,000 each as restitution.

about time. I still do not understand how people can call you, and when you hit *69 the number is unavailable or cannot be reached.

Those things where really annoying, I got at least 11 final warnings from those Jacka$$es and I have never owned a vehicle with a warranty in my life, get a rope.

We had probably 3 dozen calls from them. The funny thing was that they would always hang up when I asked which car they were inquiring about.

My wife even told them she wanted to sign up, and they still hung up on her. Maybe they could sense she wasn't serious...

those guys were fun :)

I tried to get my 1939 Allis B under their coverage. The guy asked if i had anything newer.... "No!! Why would i need anything newer"

There was a breif silence then he hung up.

(quoted from post at 05:42:59 06/16/09) They finally busted those guys who were calling numbers at random selling extended warranties.
Scammers Busted Fox News

The do-not call list is a scam itself. I have documented and reported numerous robo-calls for warranty, air-duct cleaning companies, etc. on the national Do-not-call complaint website. As far as I know, nothing ever came of it. I think it should be a criminal offense to make an unsolicited robo-call of any kind to a phone.

I am tempted to setup an old computer and a modem to continuouslly dial phone numbers that I get robo-calls from. Just let it dial 24 hrs a day.

Just like the spammers, if we gave them LONG prison sentences, it wouldn't hurt my feelings at all.

How about listening to bagpipe practice sessions instead? A year of "march of the Cameron men" and "Scotland the brave" might knock the eardrums out so they wouldn"t be able to try telescamming again.

Lanse, that's pretty much what I did and have posted on here about it before. I told them I was so glad they called and asked if they would cover the wood flat bed that caugth fire on my 77 chevy, girl did not even ask, she hung up some time durring my story about drive'n down the road and the bed catch'n fire and have'n to drive fast enough to put out the flames and not have'n any breaks, loose'n the 200 lb of suger I had just gone to town for and every thing. Nice girl till she hung up on me.

Good work Lanse.

Under Bush businesses could do no wrong, so the scammers had a field day. I filed a complaint with the FCC and and got an email back that they found no violation. What I complained about was illegal for fifty years and still is, so I called them and was told a business could do what they wanted. Congress would pass a law and Bush would not hire anybody into the enforcement position. So anyway now that that SOB is gone, I file on every crank/spam/sales call and they disappear.
Here's a call i was getting and what happened. It was one of those computer calls looking for so and so, it said if you're not her don't continue this is private. Seems like a violation of that persons privacy rights. But if you are so and so push #9 or to stop receiving these calls push #. I got about three of these calls a month and it was always a robot. The next time I saw the number on caller ID after i filed a person was on the phone and asked nicely if that person was at this number.

Yeah, ol Bush, now that the crew you wanted are in, and they get done taking everything over and running it the way THEY see fit. Everything will be right in the world. How's that HopeAndChange working for you?

Bought service policy on my 5 year old craftsman lawn tractor with 1.leaking gas tank 2.broken deck engagment cable 3.bent blade 4.tires leaking air 5.ripped seat. I recieved the invoice and service aggrement which has Sears name on both.I sent them $78 simply on the fact sears indorsed it.May get a shock when I take it in for repairs.Otherwise I never buy extended warranties on anything.

It looks like there's far more to the story than I imagined...... Not only were they violating the do-not-call, but actually scamming warranties? Who'd a known????

I won't miss their calls a bit. Now if they'd just get the bunch who want to help me out with my credit card interest!
