Tractor tires

Got a big cut on a sidewall, booted it but still afraid it will go at worst possible time. New tires a bit expensive. Found a set of used 18.4.38 that look fair with just weather checking and 50% tread. What is the major change from the current 18.4.34 that I have on now. Not that it should matter but the tractor is JD green. Thanks, Bob

Quite a bit of difference. Like has ben said, it's a completely different size rim, and they stand a good bit taller.

If you would put 38's on both side, it would change your ground speed and how the tractor pulls.

We had a sidewall crack that went through the tire at the worst possible time- while we were chopping 1st crop last year. The tires were pretty bad anyeway so we got a new pair of Coop bias ply tires delivered, installed, and fluid topped up for about $1200-1400. This year that price would be a great price.

We had the bad tire booted and we moved both old ones to the duals for that tractor.

I would see if I couldn't find a pr. of 18.4x34 duals with good tires on a farm sale as they go pretty cheap here with pretty good tread and change them out to your rims.I got a pr for my tractor for 175.00 acouple yr. ago at a consignment sale with excellant tires

Well those were the expected answers but had hopes as good tires at a super price ($70.00 for the pair. Bought them anyway and traded for 34's. Will be installing them and using the others as backup as the duals are still holding up, not used much lately. Bob
