I have a tractor that calls for GL4 in its transmission. I tryed to find some at our local farm store but to no avail. Local auto supply store had COASTAL rated as GL 3, 4, 5. Will this take the place of GL 4? It is 80-90 gear lube. Second question, will conditioner added to the various oils in a tractor regardless of age help or is it a waste of money? Thanks for the help!!!!!!

I think GL-4 does not have the sulfur based high pressure additives. This is called for when the system contains yellow metal (brass/bronze) as this additive attacks these metals. NAPA can order it. When I accidentally put GL_5 in my Nissan PU tranny, it locked the synchros and did not want to shift at all when cold. Not sure what it would do in a tractor tranny but there must be some reason.
