taking offer adds in photo section

Why do they let people put taking offer adds in the photo adds?If you don't know what you want don't sell it.I saw a steering arm in the photo adds i could use,the guy kept saying "Make me an offer" I told him it was his to price.He said "you know what you can afford to spend".I made him an offer and he said "go buy one someplace else".From now on i'm passing make offer adds.
 
You have now learned what most already know. Dont even respond to them. Also don't respond to any e-bay or other auction items that have a reserve on them. They will list it again , and the next time they won't have the reserve.
 
My brother used to dabble in trading stuff. Frequently offers were much higher than he would have asked for an item. Made out like a bandit having people make an offer instead of posting an asking price.

I totally agree, I make what appear to be generous offers, and the responses are basically... "go fhuck yourself..." LITERALLY.

It's not my fault that the guys didn't put a target price on them.
 
Its poor buisness they know what they want. When they do offers i say $1 now what do you want? If that don't get them to the table, move on. As for taking offer run the guy needs to do an auction wich is esentially what he is doing. Have no quarms with a reseve but either state it or start the item out at the minimum price.
 
"Make offer" tells me they arent serious about selling and are only willing to sell if they are able to get more than it's worth. People stop by here all the time wanting to sell this or that. Every so often someone will start the price game with the old "make me an offer" routine. My answer is always the same....."Did you want me to buy it or appraise it?" Once they realize its not my first rodeo, they either come with a price or I tell them I cant use it.
