Old Chevy pick-up

I have been mowing this property for a few years. The house is always empty, and there is a shed I have wondered what's in it, I don't like to snoop. I just mow and leave. Today I met a fellow who watches the area. He told me there was a couple old vehicles in the shed, and I could have a look. I could tell one was a old chevy truck about early 50's. It was the model with a extra window on the side behind the driver, and passenger. Not a real antique, but I just don't see old vehicles in barns, or gagres anymore where I live. I told the fellow to contct the owner to see if she wants to sell it. I couldn't tell what the other vehicle was, as it was mostly covered with junk. Looked like a 60's car, from what I could see. I have a neighbor that has a really nice junkyard? I'd love to poke around there, but he is very unfriendly. People have actually offered to pay, just to look, but he runs everybody off. Whole place looks like it is falling down.

I believe they were made between 53- 54 GMC and Chevy. Open link for more pic's These are 54's in the 5 window series and very collectible here in the North

Yep what they call a 5 window truck worth a good bit more then the other type. I or should I say my son has the 3 window type but we have an extra 5 window cab and fenders on hand. Nice old trucks and they could have 1 of a number of engines. The 216 or if lucky the 235

You don"t need to bother with that truck anymore. Just tell me where it is and I"ll take care of things!!

Those 5-windows were the neatest of the old Chevy pickups.

chevrolet introduced the "advanced designed trucks" in 1947 and produced them until early 55. in 1951 the "nu-vue" windows were available as an option which gave an "observation car view".

Yep Stan, the days out out wanderin and happening across those old K-series Chevy's that been settin in the fields are about gone. Although I drove by the Garver Lake Tavern yesterday in Michigan for the first time in decades and someone had a whole late '50's Chevy truck cab setting out on their land for sale. Now, if I had a need for it, but don't. I have to admit that someone down around the Kankakee area in Illinois has a forward control Jeep been setting out behind their barn a few years that from the road looks interesting, and someone else not too far from them has 3 '50's Power Wagons and a 60's 1 ton Power Wagon, but other than that, far and few between. Personally, I'd like to adopt them all, but then again would probably get a letter in the mail in a few months telling me must adapt them to solar or wind powered.

Hey, in my local paper yesterday read a letter from a local fella that wants all farm tractors to start being made electric so he doesn't get diesel exhaust on his produce. I grumbled, but walked away. They're out there.

Have a good day Stan.

Was a junkyard like that near Arcade NY. Old guy only let his friends in.There were cars in there from the 40's on up.Saw a chevy Nomad ,a couple of Simcas and everything else under the sun.The majority of them had sunk into the ground up to the tops of the wheelwells. The Nomad had been sitting so long the entire floor was rotted out and the car had folded in on its self.Couple hundred cars, $75 minimum bid, only a dozen or so sold, the local scrapper brought his crusher and in a week they were all gone.Had interested parties from all over the northeast. At the time I was looking for a good hood for an AMC gremlin,he had 4 Gremlins in there ,not one of them was worth the $75. I took a ride out RT104 in western NY the other night between the town of Gaines and Ridgeway. There was an early 1950s GMC pickup sitting on a trailer along side the road for sale.I didn't stop and look at it but it looked complete and in pretty good original condition.
