post emerge grass controll in non-RR corn

I put generic Dual 2 on my corn pre-emerge at full rate a few days after planting and had 7/10th of an inch a few days later, corn foxtail is coming in, not heavy but enough to worry about, planned on spraying with buctril/atrazine soon, is there anything that I can tank mix to take out the grass that works and is reasonable? Most say Accent barely works anymore. I hoped not to cultivate.

Richard, Do you have a chemical dealer in your area that can answer your question? Or a county extension agent/educator that can help you? I have had a private applicator's license for years but with the continual changes in weed resistance and new chemicals I have come to rely on my dealer. I am sure there are some chemicals out there that you can use. Sorry I can't be specific but I have RR & LL corn which glysophate & Ignite respectively controls grasses. But these can only be used on GMO seeds.

I"m not a fan of steadfast and Accent, but those are generally a common choice for bad grass. The problem with that class of chemicals is crop injury and poor performance plus being over priced. If you put down a full rate of metachlor, how bad is the grass really? Providing your metachlor is holding reasonably well I"d go with Laudis made by Bayer at 3oz per acre with a a 1/2 to 1 pound atrazine. Off the top of my head I can"t remember if its mso or crop oil that is used and at what rate. Scratch the Buctril all together unless there is some weed specifically your targeting that Laudis is week on. Laudis is very similar to Caulisto, so it great on broadleaves. But unlike Caulisto it has pretty good activity on grass as long as the grass is reasonably small. 3oz of Laudis should be about $15/acre or less. I"ve seen Laudis do amazingly well on big grass and broadleaves with only a half rate of Balance Pro down pre. Pretty cheap chem program.

SOUNDS LIKE YOU NEED TO TALK TO YOUR CHEMICAL SUPPLIER OR MAYBE YOU WENT GENERIC AND HAVE NO SUPPORT TO HAVE ANY WARRANTY

I think the attrazine will knock down/burn down the grass pretty well. A little crop oil probably helps alot too.

I forgot to mention. 25 acres worth will set you back about $525. How many acres did you say you have? (;>)) No, I'm not kidding.

thanks for the replies, I deal with an individual supplier, most big coops around here don't even want to mess with smaller producers unless you have 1500 acres, I don't have much faith in our local county agents anymore and really am not sure of the purpose they serve anymore. I have had good luck with generic dual in the past, neighbor said his surpass is weak this year also. If nothing else I will have to get the 183 out, hoped to keep it smooth to no-till the beans next year.
