What site is the best for US and world news,I have been trying to find agood internet site with out all the ads and opinions you get on tv.What is your choice???????????

BBC for world news. I check Fox news online. I am not thrilled with them but at least they don't worship the Pres.

Breitbart.com has a roundup of news from all the sources. You can also get pretty much the same set of news by selecting the "news" tab at Google.com

Neither Breitbart nor Google seem to filter the news according to any political preferences. You're still going to get a bias from each story, whether right or left, because every reporter is a human being with their own biases, but hopefully you can get enough versions of a story to get the whole thing.

Well I get tired of the commercials, and they tend to go over the same stuff all day, but I think Fox is better than anything out there.

Like someone else said at least they dont slobber all over themselves about external_link.

I also check Worldnetdaily.com most mornings. They are decidedly right wing but you will see stuff that the major news networks would never let see the light of day.

I watch Fox News for the best non-bias news on TV or the net.
Live with the commercials they are a fact of life for Hundreds of years.

</a> Will Rogers once said <big>[i:654c4848f0]"All I know is just what I read in the papers, and that's an alibi for my ignorance."[/i:654c4848f0]</big>

The same probably holds true for <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yellow_journalism">
journalism</a> provided by national network news.

Watched BBC for news during the early days of the Iraq war.

ABC (All Bull Sheet), CBS (Complete Bull Sheet), and NBC (Nothing But Crap) are barely reliable for the weather alone.

This forum is a good source for news; provide a link to information, go to the website and read the information, and then ponder over the information.

The local TV stations provide me with radar weather information that is somewhat reliable.

Other than the local weather report and Jerry Springer, not much else worth watching.

TOTALLY AGREE!!!! I watch the local news at 10:00 P.M. to see how many folks have been gunned down in Memphis in the last 24 hours and to get my laugh for the day (they can't tell you whether or not it's gonna rain tomorrow) from the weather-guesser. Watch NO national news, but I do read the daily paper, whom I trust slightly more than I trust the weather person. At least the paper's editorals are from both sides of SOME issues.

NPR on the radio in the morning. WSJ at some point during the day at least the front page. BBC world news later in the day for a wrap up of world events.

If you area willing to use Firefox browser instead of Internet Explorer, use Ad-block, and leave Java and Java Script turned off until needed you will eliminate about 90% of all ads.

With J and JS turned off you may not get quite all of the content you would otherwise, but you will find without loading it your computer SEEMS much, much faster when surfing.

Along similar lines---Foxit for PDFs instead of Adobe.

I second the suggestion to use Firefox with the Adblock and Flashblock plugins.

For news, the site I think reports without putting their own spin on is www.reuters.com They tend to cover business news a bit more than most but otherwise objective.

MSNBC, CNN, and NPR are pretty far left; Fox about the same to the right. All are okay if you want to get their take on the news, but keep in mind that they're all very slanted. CNN and NPR are more subtle, Fox, and MSNBC don't even try to hide it.

Yahoo does not have fairly straight news. They simply regurgitate Reuters, AP, and the other left-leaning outlets.

DrudgeReport.com is the best, IMHO.

Other than BBC and Reuters, I didn't see any mention of "outside" sources (my apologies if I missed any)...
Many foreign newspapers and other sources have english websites (Google translation in hilarious):
Der Spiegel, Deusche Welle (spelling wrong?), Asahi Shimbun come to mind, as well as the Brit papers: Times, Guardian etc, Economist mag, Irish Times. and dozens more
For real Socialism try the Socialist site (wswg.org, I think).
It's interesting to see what other countries and/or organisations print about world and/or US events...
