Backblading

On one of YT's survey questions the term "backblading" is used in reference to restoring gravel to a driveway.
What is "backblading" when used in this context?
 
Using a rear 3 point hitch blade. Go forward to scrape off high areas, go in reverse to smooth and fill in low areas.
 
Also hear the term used for blading backwards with either bulldozer or tractor front loader, in the "float" position- levels much better than trying to do it forwards.
