I"m converting my D17 AC to alternator. I"ve got the alt. mounted but need some good advice on how to make the switch. It"s a 12 volt neg. ground already, I"m just unsure how to proceed with wiring. Thanks

Need to know what alternator you are using. If it is a good old Delco 10SI they are easy to wire. The big post goes to the hot side of the soliniod the wire on the plug that is marked #2 goes to the big post and the #1 goes to the switch the side that is hot when turned on. You do need a diode or light bulb in the #1 wire or you will not be able to shut off the engine. I use diode 276-1661 radio shack that is there part number

gas or diesel?if its diesel you dont need the diode.if you have a universal ignition switch with both ign.and acc.terminals wire the coil to ign. and the alternator to the acc. terminal and you still dont need the diode
