Putting a briggs 15 hp overhead valve engine togetherand discovered it had one steel pushrod and one aluminum pushrod.Assume steel goes on exhaust side,because of heat. Is that correct?Anyone help me with it.
 
There is no heat effect on pushrods. The difference is the amount of force applied to the rocker. The intake is heavier, and may have a heavier spring. JimN
 
what series? I have a full set of books out of a Small engine shop that closed a few years back. Might be able to enlighten from those.
 
Illustrated parts manual for 28n707-0160-01 at the link below. Exh pushrod listed p/n 692011 and int p/n 692003.
