OT-Need help with 97 dodge 4x4 vacuum..

Hello, was investigating my vacuum lines and discovered a line that is disconnected. My transfer case is the NP 231-D and on the top is 4 vacuum lines: 2 to the vacuum actuator, 1 from the engine vacuum, and a fourth line that is hard plastic that is in the vacuum harness but not connected to anything. The other end is connected to the top of the transfer case. My question is, where does this fouth line connect to. The end appears burned off possibly from exhaust manifold but its just hanging loose. The 4-wheel drive seems to work but I would like to know where this line is supposed to plug into on the firewall side. I cant find any ports that is not used on the motor side and the motor runs excellent.

Any help anybody can give me, I would sure appreciate it.

Thanks-Mike

S'alright. Just the vacuum comes from different places on the two.

I tossed the question off to a bud who's a diesel-head but knows his Dodges. If he can help, he'll chime in.

Just as a thought, that stray line you have going isn't something simple like the vent line on your differential that's there just to prevent pressure build-up inside the transfer case, is it?

According to other websites, it is supposed to be the vacuum veny/bleed off line(which, I am not exactly sure what that means.) It goes from the transfer case as one of the 4 lines up toward the back of the engine. It is a small hard plastic line. The end where the rubber piece was attached is melted very bad so I don't know what was supposed to be there.

Thanks-Mike

Where it's a vent/bleed line, that may be just the kind of thing I was thinking of. Rather than a hose fitting, try looking around for something like a clip for a hose or wiring harness with nothing in it that it might have popped out of.

its a vent line that runs up to the back end of the engine, supposed to be attached to a little plastic fitting.its supposed to be higher there and cleaner.
