John Deere 2030-before and after

Hi,
I have been working on the 1972 John Deere that we purchased about a month ago. Haven't got all the problems worked out, but have rewired and mounted two new lights, washed, degreased and painted. I have before and after photos if I can post them. The before picture is off the dealer's website and not very good quality. Hope I can get these posted. I may just have to post the after photo.

Now, I hope I can post the before photo. I should have posted this one first, but you can surely see the difference. The paint job is rough, with just spray cans and a paint brush, but it looks a lot better at a distance anyway. I am proud of it.

Nice job!
IMHO I would have painted the loader green even if it isn't a Deere piece. Somehow the red just doesn't work with the green and yellow for me.
Thanks for posting.

That's what my husband said! I just have never seen a Bushhog brand with anything except Red. However, I probably got a deeper red than it was originally. Thanks for looking.

I like the red loader!

Nothing wrong with painting on a budget unless you are trying to win a tractor show. It looks nice in your photo.

It sure looks a whole lot nicer than it did and you did a great job. In my book, whether a piece of equipment looks like a rat or not, the most important thing is that it does what its supposed to do when its supposed to do it and you can do it safely and in good health. But there's absolutely nothing wrong with having pride either and putting some elbow grease into it like you did. That red loader? Don't bother me a bit. Does it bother you? Its your tractor and thats all that matters.

Good luck, use it in good health. Looks fine to me.

Looks good to me!!! Did you spray or brush paint it? That red loader gives it character.

Looks great!

Just an FYI, our Bush Hog loader is green. When we bought it, 5-10 years ago, they had an option to have it painted the color of your tractor.

Yours looks great any way.

Need to build a guard for the front of the tractor to help take care of the front sheet metal. Sharp looking rig.

Thanks a lot to everyone! I hand painted with a brush the wheels, the canopy, and the loader. I just used spray cans on the tractor, and the bucket. The loader was really hard to paint. I had red paint all over me. I climbed all over the tractor trying to get the inside of the arms, etc. I got stuck a time or two, and if I wasn't for my cap, I would be a red head now. Ha!. I kind of like the red loader myself. We bought the tractor to use, but I kind of like to look good also. It didn't really cost that much, probably less than $200 including the lights and degreaser. We have about 150 acres and 44 head of cattle and two bulls, plus calves. Oh yes, 5 horses and a mule. We put up quite a bit of hay, and there is always something that needs done around the place. It's a pretty good old tractor, still needs a little work, but it is workable now. I raked hay with it about 10 days ago, and have done some bushhogging along the drive with it. I also used the loader and put some dirt into some holes that was holding water right against the carport. My husband is going to cut some more hay tomorrow. We also have a 1991 2555 JD Cab tractor, and a 1972 Deutz 4006. The 2555 looks pretty good, but mine still looks the best. Thanks for looking and commenting.

You's my Heroin (not the drug  )

I don't fel the least bit bad about my idea of using the brush and spray cans on mine now.

Another picture of my tractor. Nice to see some other women posting also. My husband never touches the computer.

I ordered the John Deere hood decals on Ebay. I found them for $34 including shipping. I used the implement spray paint found at the local hardware store. I managed to mask off the Bushhog emblems and the QT 2400. I painted over the pinstripping on the loader, and may just leave it off, as it seems to be the most expensive thing to find. It is amazing what a little paint will do. Thanks for the good words from all!
