I"m restoring my fathers 9n, missing the starter switch next to the gear shift, it obviously screws in and pushs on a rod under neath of the the cover however the local shop keeps trying to sell me the bolt on version and the only one I can find that screws in has a wire attachment which doesn"t seem right.... If it is what is the wire for??? I really need some help with this.

Hello--the part you need has no electrical connections--it is a plunger/rod that goes thru trans interlock [for neutral only start] & has linkage to close contacts on 2-post switch--[cable from bat.,cable to starter] located below battery box if still there---this original setup has mostly been changed thru the years to a solinoid-push button no neutral-safety set-up. I thing the switch is still available, don't know where to find part you need----good luck--paul

Key # 3 Part # 9N11506, about $120.00 at your local NH dealer.

Or check with some of the used parts suppliers.

I just purchased the switch from this site last month. Go to Ford 9N/2N/8N Club on the left side of this page.Go parts. I got good service, good price, and quick delivery.
