My 01 Buick Lasabre Is Starting to shift hard on the first shift, has only 67,000 miles. Fluid is up & looks & smells O.K., does anyone know of any troubles with these. Thanks Gene

Hey Genos,

Take it in and have a scan tool put on it. It s a 4T65E trans. Fully computer controlled. Usually when they start to shift hard, the computer has seen a trans problem and is compensating by raising the pressure in the trans. The 1-2 shift is always the hardest when they go into failsafe. The most likely code they will find is a P1811-max shift adapt and long shift time-. This is usually caused by a bad pressure control solenoid in the trans, or too much internal oil loss. But, this is just a guess. I could give you alot better info if you had the code numbers (not definitions).

I second the pressure cont. solenoid.I have a '00 Olds Sillouhette van in shop with same symptoms and it's getting the solenoid today.

Located in side cover(driver's side) at valve body.Part # for yours is 10478146.

I had the same problem with a Chev. S-10 truck,
a new solinoid fixed it, and I had the fluid
changed and new filter and, of course, pan
gasket.
My oil change place wanted $50 for a scan, but I
don"t trust them for anything but oil changes. I
went to a mom and pop small transmission shop
who scanned it free, and fixed it quickly at a
fair price.
