OT - Alfalfa fields

I am looking at harvesting and keeping the hay off of 80 acres of alfalfa. The owner of the fields wants a bid for the hay produced from the field. What is fair payment to him?
We will be doing irrigation, mowing, weed control, bailing, and removal of the bails.

Thanks,

Depends on how heavy the hay is but it might be best to go by the BALE or by the ton and not per acre.

Around here the landowner gets between $20 and $50 per big round bale and does nothing but provide the hay seeded field. This would equate to about .75 to $1.75 for little squares.

The price variation is determined by the type of hay and condition of the field.

Figure what the hay would be worth if you had to buy it all baled and give him half that amount.

Thanks folks. I was thinking either half the sales or half the hay would go to the land owner. Sounds like it might work out.

Thanks again.
