Gasket Replacement

I am not going to be able to get gaskets for the rear end on my 1929 Farmall Regular restoration project. I have never worked on one this old before, I have always been able to get gaskets from a dealer. Can anyone suggest the best gasket goo/silicon paste or whatever to use on the differential cover, gear shifter and cover, drain plug housing, and belt pulley assembley? This tractor will never "work" again except for shows and parades. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Use Loctite gasket eliminator #515. It is an anerobic sealant that doesnt set up until it is clamped. Get surfaces clean...use brake cleaner and a rag to remove oil film, and run a 1/8" bead around the flange and bolt holes and assemble. If done correctly, it WILL NOT leak.

You wouldn't happen to be Dr. Schossow that used to practice in Colfax?
Greg in MO is right about the Loctite stuff. It works better on narrow sealing surfaces than silicon gasket sealer does. GM uses it on front drive axles in suv and trucks. It looks kind of like grape jelly.

I also got some gasket "gel" in a tube from NAPA made by Permatex and used it to add an extra layer of sealant on new PTO housing gaskets on my Super M and it's working perfectly. I agree that you need to clean the metal completely with either brake cleaner or carburetor cleaner to make a good bond but otherwise it's pretty easy to use and makes an effective seal. The 1/8" bead does the trick and any excess can easily be trimmed off with a box cutter or similar blade after it sets up. Pat

i make a lot of mine. just buy the gskt. material and go to it. i use punches for the holes.sometimes you just need that gskt. to make it look authentic and give yourself some pride.
