OT Chevy Van using oil

Chevy express van with V8 using about a quart of oil every 2000 miles or less. No smoke, no puddles. Any ideas? thanks.

Depending on year model and miles, I'd not be concerned with a quart to 2,000.

I can't recall GM's, but Ford's criteria was oil consumption wasn't considered excessive until you hit about a quart in 800. I say "about" because they had a chart that took miles, etc, into consideration.

Replace your intake manifold gasket. I bought a 95 Chevy Lumina a couple of years ago. The previous owner complained of the same problem. took it to the dealer and they couldn't find the problem. i bought it and replaced the gasket, there was a small section missing, about 1/8". It now has 193,000 miles and won't use a half quart between oil changes. Very typical for a small block chevy motor to use oil, but not show smoke, repace the gasket and you should be good to go.

What year/motor? A leaking intake gasket on an "R" code 350 could cause it to use oil, but not on the newer Z, T, or U engines. The newer engines have a cover over the lifter valley, if you want to call it that, so a leaking intake has no effect on oil usage. Have you looked at the plugs? One oily plug would indicate which cyl is responsible.
