Yes it's gonna rain!! Finally!

Near St. Louis there's very little corn planted. We've got over 3.5" in the last 2 weeks and more coming for tonight and tomorrow. Mowed the lawn today and was driving thru water.

I am just east of St. Cloud about 8 miles. Came down a little faster and harder than I like to see on my light ground, but I'll take what I can. Have only had 3/4" all spring here. Just wished I had spread fertilizer on the rye, I called the order off because radar showed nothing and no more rain was forecast until next thursday. Corn sure is gonna be happy now when we hit 70 monday.

Here in central IL we are sitting with very little of the crops planted. Since 5am today it has been raining non stop. Just came in from chores and started the sump pump in the basement, only ever had to do this twice before in the last 30 years that I recall. One of the roads between here and where the cows are was closed because of water over the road. Creeks are as high as they ever get. Water standing everywhere. We had 1.2in or rain tuesday night. Rainfall today, 3.8" so far, it is pouring rain now and we will get rain for the next several hours and it looks on the radar like the poeple south of here in IL have it even worse. I wish you had some of this water.

NW Ill. (Rock Island County) we got 1.4" Tuesday night and Wed. Nice Thursday, I got the yard mowed. Woke up to rain this AM, we have another 1.5" as of 5PM. Supposed to rain till midnight. Water, water everywhere!! Chris

I am west of St. Cloud & north of Freeport. To day was the first measurable rain since the last one came when the ground was still frozen & all run off to the low spots. Just planted the sweet corn in the garden. Good timing.

here on il wi state line most of the corn is in the ground if it comes up or not is another question
talked to a neighbor tonight he said "i planted a lot of corn that should not have been". he has it corn planted and some beans.
he went on to say "i hope it doesn't turn off hot and dry very soon if it does we are in trouble".
so i asked "how has that worked out"? he said "ask me that in october".
we have had at least 3 inches of rain since sunday.
since april 1 we have had between 9 to 15 inches of rain depending where you live.

I am not fuss'n bout the weather here, as soon as I do it will stop rain'n till August. That said, I wish I could give the last two inches I have gotten and the line of thunder storms I am watching on radar as I type this. We could use about two real dry and warm weeks here, not months but weeks.

Good luck with it.

Dave
