Things Turned Out Alright...New Job and House

It's just amazing sometimes.

Called a fellow last Thursday about a full-time farm job. He liked what I had to say, so he invited me out there for an interview on Friday. Offered me the job on the spot. I took it without hesitation and I start tomorrow. It looks like a great place to work. 4500 acres now, but they have great plans for growth. They want to make me more of a partner than an employee. This spring I'll be planting with a an IH MX255 and a JD 24-row center-fill planter. A man and his son operate it, and they're great guys with the son being right around my age.

Only rub is, the farm is an hour and a half drive from where I live. So...Miss MN and I found a house we both love, and I'm going to buy it. It's a 3 bedroom, 1 1/2 bath on 13 acres with a barn, silo, garage, and chicken coop.

Can't wait to go back to work...and get paid to drive tractors!

Oh man, I"m jealous! Been working in this office too long! Got to get out of here and back to the farm! Good luck!

Great for you. Since I seen your post about looking for work, I was rolling it around in my head, who I could think of that is good to work for and needs help. You beat me to it..

If you don t mind me asking, what part of MN are you moving to. Being in central MN you gotta be gettin close..

congradulations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i hope for the best for you and the future mrs in-to-deep. petty soon you 'll need to change yer names to mr and mrs "poopin in tall cotton!!!!! (that there is one of them coloquializms that means livin high on the hog!!)

Congratulations, it sounds like a great job.

Since you will be owning your own homestead you and the little lady may wish to check out a forums site called homesteadingtoday.

I don't think it is right to post a link since this site hosts Kountry Life so if you wish to visit just do a search for it.

Best wishes!

4500 acres is quite a bit. If you dont mind me asking, what kind of pay range are you getting? (it is non of my business, but I am curious)

So I guess you will be doing, all farming, plus fixing stuff, plus welding, machining, if they have a shop.

That's neat, new job that you will like, and a new (to you) house. Don't get much better'n that. And it's springtime to boot!

Congrats on the job!

I'd also like to know the pay they are offering for full-time hired help these days... getting tired of living in the city... How about health insurance? Retirement plan?

What do they mean by "more of a partner than employee"?

None of my business, just curious.

I am happy for ya Chris. You really deserved a break. So where are you headed? I was tempeted to give you a shout to come down and help a buddy get his 600 acres in but I hesitated because I wasnt sure he was as ready to roll as he should have been with more help.

I would have told the auction company. they have a vested interest in keeping things clean, and they might have known about the scam from somewhere else.

Glad to hear it, and congrats. Great that you have a job that you will like in todays economy. I have been posting on another board on the net the last 6 months (nuttin to do with tractors) and just lately they have been dropping like flies there. Jobs that is

Now if I can just find discount plane tix to India life will be super. he he.
