OT - Beef needed in NC

Does anyone out there within an hour or so of Raleigh raise beef they'd sell to the public? Looking for a half or a quarter. I grew up in the midwest (OH, IN, IA & MI). Always had a freezer full of beef. Tired of "grocery store" beef.

Thanks.

Hi jd b puller,
I wish I was closer to your area, I could help you out. I live in Minnesota though. I understand when you say you always had a freezer full of beef. I direct market my cattle from my farm to the customer. Nothing better than fresh farm raised beef. Anyway, good luck. Hopefully someone can help you out.

I always try to get a quarter from a farmer that is butchering for himself. He knows the history of the cow before butchering. If it is full of medicine he won't use it himself. That goes to store bought.

We are at least 6 hours from Raleigh but here in Murphy we have two butchers who buy local Black Angus and you can get whatever you need Quarter, half or whole cow. Bring a couple of big coolers and fill up. Henry

Here in Iowa there is a push for buy fresh buy local program in conjunction with retail and farmers markets. Perhaps you have a producer in your area offering beef at a farmers market. We are now providing meat direct to a local restaurant and have even put in a rettail freezer in town while offering the quarte cuts direct off the farm. Check your local extension office for producers in your area.

We raise just what you are looking for and we sell pretty much from the Triangle east, though we do have some customers further away. Here are our websites. Wesley

We have someone with a ranger pickup and a deep freeze tied down to the bed come through once a year. Not much of a deal on his boxed beef stuff but he makes it sound like a deal. Haven't bought any in years. Quite a sight to see that deep freeze hanging over the tail gate of the pickup. Must be some money in it somewhere. And he usually has some "fresh" frozen gulf shrimp in there too.
