farmall 340 stuck in gear?

my friend has a 340 farmall.he hit the shifter with a hammer to get a knob on the end of the stick,now it seems to be stuck in between gears.wont move,just wants to stall.any idea?thank you.

Yes, stuck in two gears. at the base of the shifter is a par of opposing caps. pumch a hole in one and punch out the opposing cap and pin. take off the shift lefer. line up the journals wita a pry bar and reinstall the shift lever. Get a replacment cap at your IH dealer.
