I am the leader of the Lanark County 4-H antique tractor restoration club. This year 4-H has told me that I need to add a judging section to one of our meetings. Does anyone have a check list our scoring system for this? We usually take the finished tractor to a couple of local fairs but have never entered it in any competitions. Thanks Ron

You might check with the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo website. They have an antique tractor restoration contest. They may have some info there.

I do not like (don't go to) tractor shows where there is judging. When asked to judge at the 4H fair I at first declined. When they told me how they judged I accepted and have been for several years. They DON'T judge the tractor, they judge the boy (or girl). I don't remember the points but it goes like this. Oral interview with the judges. Scrapbook showing photos, costs, hours. What did you start with. How much outside help did you have. Anything inovative, showing thought. Sometimes the kid with the worst paint job that he did all the work himself from something he pulled out of the hedgerow will place above the one with a perfect paint job that his dad helped with.
