O/T Highway signs life span?

I'm in need of some No Trespassing signs. Since the plastic and Alum. hardware store type only last a few years. I thought of ordering some that meet Highway and Traffic sign specks. Reading about them they seem to talk about the life span of the reflective part of the sheeting but note the sheeting itself.

Anyone know what the average lifespan is of the sheeting before is peels or starts to fade? I'm not concerned about the reflectivity of the sheeting.

Thanks,

Most large highway sign co. make their own. They use a computer program that meets Federal highway standards. After putting the lettering on they heat treat them. The signs do fade some but I don't think it would be a problem. The only drawback is the price. construction grade would be fine and be a little less money over the highway grade. The only difference is the highway grade reflects better.
I hope this helps

Thanks, Do you think the lettering will last 10 15 20 years? I can't recall the last time I've seen them change the side street signs around hear. If they will least it will be well worth the money.

The ones I'm looking at say 7 to 12 years but I believe they are talking about the reflectivity of them.

I live on a private road, and the fire dept requires us to put up street signs that meet the county requirements, which I would imagine are pretty much universal. We put in our street signs over 20 year ago and they have held up fine so far.

Around here, the lifetime of NT signs is very limiter. Buy them by the roll from local hardware. 200 copies to a roll. Made of Tyvek, last one to two seasons. By that time they have faded, gotten weathered, or the local tresspassers have torn them down. Used to buy nice ones, thay didn't last any better. Besides, they get ignored anyway!
