i finally wore out my o28 stihl, i bought it in the late '70's or early '80's i cant remember, knowing the new ones have some bad reviews i went pawn shop shopping for another o series, fount several from a large worn out o64 junker to almost new smaller ones a sign on the shelf said all saws half price, hmmm.. no o28's but a nice looking low hour o26 and a even nicer 025, told the lady im in a buying mood and could i take 1 or 2 outside and start them, she said she didnt have any gas, umm humm, well i just happend to bring mine along, gotcha! oh ok, she said, so i took the 025 out after 12 pulls i got 1 'pop' took it back in and tryed the o26, it was bone dry in the fuel tamk after giving it some it fired on the second pull , ran great, wonderd why somebody would pawn this, but saw somebody had sharpened the chain that didnt know how, the thing probably wouldnt cut rotten pine, i gave 150 for it without telling her that her half price was half the cost of a new saw, but i figured i wasnt doing bad at that price anyway, and left got home and propperly sharpened the chain and tryed it out on the wood pile, thing works great and it doesent appear to have many hours at all the chain was still the original and bar had most of the paint still on

i should have mentioned for bigger jobs i have larger saws, there sthill's too, what i was wanting was a good lightweight saw like my o28 for small jobs and limbing ect, i didnt expect to cut trees and firewood on the farm with just this new o26,

I like the freebie deals the best.

People give me chainsaws, weedeaters, etc. Ususlly a simple fix like cleaning the carb.

I also go for cheaper brands. Not ragging Stihl at all they are good just costly.

I bought, yeah bought a 16" Poulan pro saw 7 years ago. All I had at the time were honking big saws and my back is not so good.
I cut around 15-20 pickup loads of wood per year and it is my primary saw. Still has the origional spark plug. I did wear out 3 sprockets, about 4 bars and lots of chains.
But the little saw starts first or second pull, cuts well and will sit and idle all day.

Where are you at? I just bought an 026 parts saw that I don't really need & would part with & need an 064 parts saw. If I come thru your part of the country maybe I'd buy the 064 from the pawnshop.

My wife's nephew runs a pawn shop. We've asked him the same question. why pawn it. His answer; if you need twenty bucks and nobody will loan it to you pawn is about all you have left.

the 064 is in a pawn shop in ruidoso, nm, [ south central nm on us 70, im on a farm about 10 miles east of there

I have been using an 026 to cut all of my firewood for the past 12 years (we heat a 2000 square foot house with wood in central Saskatchewan with long and cold winters). No major problems beyond the expected of a heavily used saw. When I bought it, I actually wanted a larger saw but the dealer told me he doubted I would need it. He told me I could buy the 026, use it for a month, and if I still felt I needed a bigger saw he would take it back with no questions asked.
