Tractor Parts Manufacturers.

When buying tractor parts or unrelated items online, I always ask the question about where it is made. Baffeled at what few answers I receive.
My first choice is always American and my last choice is Communist CHINA!
Do most buyers not care?

Most buyers do not care as long as the price is cheap and they think it will work for a reasonable amount of time.
This fact may be sad but it is still true.

Finding out the country something was made in when ordering online is next to impossible most times.
I credit this to drop shipping; and sellers that do not really care where it is made.
Even if a part has a warranty; the cost and hassle of shipping the original part back is most times not worth the cost of replacing the part by buying another.

Heck the problem I have is getting the part to work/fit as advertised. I often see guys that buy a part for X tractor online and when they get it find out that it is just a make fit universal part and all the pieces needed were not included.
Take for instance a mechanical temperature gauge. The online catalog says it fits your tractor. Then when you get it you find out it needs a adapter not included to work.

Unfortunately, we have lost so much of our manufacturing to other countries that it is almost impossible to find ANYTHING made in this country. And, the stuff we are getting back is JUNK. Go to any hardware store and see how much comes from CHINA. I try my darndest to buy American, always. I don't care if it is more expensive. At least I know that it will work and last.I do without alot because I can't find American.

About 8 months ago, I ordered a new starter for a Case 188D. My factory starter drive was slipping and a replacement was not available. I installed the starter and on the third start the selenoid started clicking. I had to modify the new selenoid! Yesterday, I was servicing the Case, looked up and saw that the rubber insulation on the starter wireing was rotten and fall off. I had to pull the "NEW" starter and make new wire insulaton from tubing.
$188.00 for a CHINA starter made just like the original with smaller electrical components and rotten rubber insulation!

Me too Jiles. I try to buy and sell American when I can. But the truth is some parts are too expensive to build here due to labor costs and regulations and I can't sell parts that people won't buy. One thing I do see. Tractor seat cushions. I sell American made sets which are about twice what the Chinese ones sell for. I won't stock the Chinese sets. If you want price you can buy those at the local farm store. On the other hand some of the manifolds I sell are not made in USA. I have no choice but to sell what I can get.

We all care where the parts are made, and we all would prefer to buy USA made, but the sad fact is that USA made parts are almost non-existant. The parts I sell are made in India, Turkey, China, and yes, a few are still made right here in the good ol' USA, but I have no choice as to which parts are made where.

My Chevy Impala has nice aluminum Rims on it and yesterday I got busy and removed all the wheels and gave them a good cleaning and shining. In the process I armoralled the Big O, Euro brand tires on the rims, and to my surprise I see"Made In USA " on them. I have never paid any attention to them since new and this discovery made me feel good. I then checked the Big O ,Big Foot Tires on my truck and they also were stamped"Made in USA". Needless to say I am proud that a local tire shop sells American made products .My UD Nissan truck has 17.5" tires so they are a made in "China" product as no one USA makes this size any more. Constant tire problems with that truck's tires reinforces the Made in China Junk saying.

Alot of things are hard to tell where they are made. Labels are not always clear and some things are made from componants from all over and only the box is made in the USA.

The USA makers NEED to label their stuff better to help promote it ! Stores should help out too by setting up a "Made in USA" section.

Lately, to my surprise ,several of the parts from discount auto parts stores have said made in the USA on them. While most all of our genuine GM parts are from CHINA ! Buy GM buy American - Yea Right.

For years Singer Sewing Machines claimed they were the only ones "made in America".

What they were doing was manufacturing the parts all over the world, shipping them to US, and assembling in the US. Tricky, tricky

Would you buy a Toyota built in the US with made in America parts assembled by US workers or would you buy a Ford with half the parts and components made and assembled over seas.

Follow the money. Where do the profits and major capital produced for these companies go.
I'd say your US money spent on the Toyota goes back to Japan while your US money spent on the Ford stays in the US.

These companies appease many an American into thinking made in America is everything by tossing them $10 dollar bills while the $100 dollar bills get shipped back to Japan.

Who owns the company is more important to me than where the parts are made or assembled.

To make this tractor related, if you buy a small John Deere utility tractor, its made in China, Korea, Japan or some European country. Do I wish it was made in the US? Yes. Do I wish the quality was better? Yes. Do I buy it anyway? Yes. Because at least the profits from the sale stay in the US vs buying a Kubota, Yanmar, Kiota or any other goofy named junk on wheels.

Ya got to be careful about the "Made in USA" vs the "Made in the USA". They have a place in China called USA. They can have labels that say...you guessed it.
