IH 1466 Need Help

My 1466 is stuck in forward, low range. I can shift between the gears 1-4 but cannot get it out of gear or into reverse or high range, although the level moves somewhat, something seems to be jammed. It done this once before last year, but after I wiggled it around, it came out and everything worked, can't seem to do that this time.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Mike

I "think" ya got a roll pin trying to shear.

Pull the panel in front of yer feet. Left side of this picture is "forward". See the bolt with the double lock nuts? That's where the hi-low pin shears.

(It helps to take out the right side battery)

PS. Don't use the bolt repair as it just flat doesn't work. I use a 5/16" roll pin and then drive another 5/32" roll pin inside of it.

Yeah,

Check it as it could also be the little tie rod up on top too, but "usually", it's that darned roll pin.

It's better if you take out that right battery so you can get to the other side of the roll pin to drive it out.

Ya have to work from under the cab on the right side and in thru the door on the left side.

It's gonna be a mother-cusser either way. Just not a fun job at all. :>(

Go to mcmastercarr.com and look up grooved pin. I bought 2 packs of 10 for the seat on my 1600 that I just rebuilt. That was the original style pin that was in all components of the seat, and they are better than just a roll pin. They're solid, and have grooves basically crimped in them so they are a press/hammer fit.
