OT-lawn mower thieves

An elderly friend of mine was mowing grass when his mower ran out of gas.He got his gas can and drove to a gas station down the street. When he got home someone was loading his mower on to a trailer. He asked the guy what he was doing and was told he had just bought this mower. He asked him who sold it to him and was told the guy in the next house.I asked if he called the cops and he said no,he just told him to unload it.He's a very trusting guy.

That guy got lucky because if I had some one loading my lawn mower he would have been looking down the barrel of a gun till the cops got there and then he would be behind bars till he posted bail.

This ain't Gunsmoke... You'd be the one behind bars these days and paying a lawsuit for making the guy sh!t his pants when you get out. People have a lot of balls thanks to lawyers....

Maybe not. Missouri says it is O.K. to defend your own personal property with whatever force is necessary.

Good Deal!!! Thanks for the correction.

I just made a set of bars for over one neighbors windows, He has been broken into three times in three years and is sick of it. This isn't down town we're talking here. this is out in the country. It is too bad this isn't a bit more like the old West in this day and age. One might just be able to get justice rather then a legal runaround.

Elderly widow lady bout two miles from the house has had her house broken into twice the last few months. Once durring the ice storm and again a few weeks ago while she was at church. She lives on a main road too.

Gonna take a few of these types getting blown out the front door by a 12ga. The worthless b******s ain't scared of jail.

Dave 2 : Up until just a few years ago, in Massachusetts if someone was breaking into your house, and you had a way to get out( another door or window) you had too! before you could defend YOUR property with deadly force, liberals. My Dad use to say if you shoot them outside drag them back in the house, but this was before all there ultra violet CSI kits.

So does KY. We can use deadly force anywhere we have the right to be to defend ourselves, others or stop the commission of a felony. I bet that would be tricky to prove though.

Last year someone tried to break in to the house at the farm. Luckily, he was an amateur using a screwdriver and didn't get in. He tried every door. We saw the marks in the door jambs. That's when we spent some $$$ and replaced most of the doors with steel doors and installed dead bolts. We also used the larger, heavier strike plates with long screws that go into the door supports, not just the thin door frame.

We did not replace the front door because it was a solid wood door. On that door I was able to separate the knob and the dead bolt by about 1 foot which makes it stronger than when the dead bolt and the knob are just a few inches apart.

Thieves make me mad, too.

Here in Tx you can defend your property.

A lot of the homes in Dallas are built with an alley and a favorite trick of lawnmower "takers" is to drive by the front, see the owner working on their lawn and zip back down the alley and grab what they can from the poor guy's open garage.

WV just passed the law last year that you have the right to defend your property or self with deadly force. So far I haven't heard of a rash of killings. But the way things keep missing look for to happen soner or later . I just cant stand a thief . I will not stand by and let someone steal what I have worked hard all my life to get.
