I have a 48 Farmall C with a 6 volt system that I was using this weekend and the battery was dead when I tried to start it and put it back in the garage.Just wondering if NAPA checks generators? Also how long will the tractor run off the battery if the generator is not working properly? I replaced the battery last fall before I put it up because it was dead but I thought it was just due to age. Anything else I should check? Thanks for your help.

I don't know how long a tractor engine would run from the power in a well charged battery.

I ran a 6 cylinder Chevy truck at highway speed for about 100 miles before needing to switch batteries one time. Had to make a trip and no time to make repair so I just took a couple of charged batteries with me. Worked just fine. Worked so well that I used battery charger until spring when I could then do the work in warmth. I don't like cold wrenches nor to be cold.

With less cylinders firing and less RPMs it should run a long time via battery. Starting shouldn't be too hard either unless the tractor is started and stopped a lot.

I know exactly what you mean about the cold.
100 miles, I'll be darn. Never thought it would go that long.
Thanks
