OT/ Power widows and dogs

I went to the bank this morning, weathers nice had the windows down 5"-6" inches in a 1995 Caprice wagon. Darn dog {small Spitz} type with his head out the passenger window, steps on the window switch putting the window up, it could have been bad for him before I stopped it, maybe I'm not all right in the head, because it did make me chuckle.

I think you meant to say Windows instead of Widows in your title.

I have seen where dogs have almost decapitated themselves with the window up button....Funny.

I must be warped a little too cause it's killin me............... Bet you put the kid lock on the next time though. Nothing teaches quicker than pain and embarrassment though. Dogs loose cool points too.

warped ?...yeah, me too .LOL.. ITS THE WORLD ! .. Recall wifes dog tethered to front porch post all wrapped up and hanging after he jumped3 ft down from porch , nearly strangled when i happened along and saved him , had a fox terrier and jack russel on opposite ends of dog line fastened to clothes line post , the sum viches' broke the clothes line and run down the road to Frogges' place, he was cuttin 'grass when he caught EM' said "it looked like MUTT and Jef had escaped from a chaingang " LOL

My parents had a road side produce stand for years and years ago someone stopped in and left their car running to keep the inside cool and with their dog still inside. Our dog sensed their dog and he ran all around the outside of the car and their dog went to every window which was closed and he jump and jump and locked all the doors.

I don't remember how they got back in but it was humorous after they left.

In a case like yours be sure to flip the master window switch to off if it has one. No one can use their power windows then. Driver has complete control.

John B... you posted "Be sure to flip the master window switch to off if it has one. No one can use their power windows then."

If it is like some of our GM vehicles, the window "LOCK" button is located right next to the driver's window buttons, just PERFECT for the mutts to step on, as well! If so, the windows won't be locked for LONG!

You are right but I think the mutt would be less likely to press the window lock button on the driver's door than any other door with the driver sitting in the driver's while driving.

I don't let my dog near me in the car when I'm driving.
I've seen too many accidents caused by small dogs sitting on the drivers' lap while the driver is driving the vehicle. The dogs nudge at the driver's hand or arm and that's all it takes.

Now days more people are having accidents just reaching for their cell phones. Just a mile from my house a young lady say 25 years old totaled a pickup truch wrapping it around a pole, she was reaching in her purse for her cell phone. She said the wind blew her off the road. DAAHH!!

I had a customer whose dog locked him out so often he drilled a hole in the top of the door so he could unlock it with a straightened coat hanger.(I would have carried an other key but that is just me)

I don't get why the car companys put those switches on horizontal surfaces in the first place. If they put them on a vertical area there would be no problems like that from kids or dogs. My 1970 Olds 442 has them on the door panel and there has never been an accidental window incident I ever heard of from any of the older cars where the switches were mounted like that.
