we just bought a generator with a 460 ford natural gas and want to run it on lp can someone tell me what all i need

One that size will need to run on liquid propane. You will need a fuel lock, LP vaporizer converter and the correct metering valve for your carb to change the jetting from NG to LP.
Get the same brand vaporizer converter as the carb, it will make getting the right metering pill and pressures easier.
I have a fair amount of experience with IMPCO and Century LP motor fuel equipment.

I don't want to throw cold water on your project, but you may have a problem finding parts if needed. Where I recently retired they have had to replace some big generators at the office buildings because parts for the vaporizers on the carbs. were no longer available.

Should not be a problem, IMPCO is still in full production of this stuff, so parts should not be a problem. An IMPCO model E vaporizer regulator should be plenty big for a 460. If the carb is a Century venturi type, you will likely need the model EO which has the low pressure orange regulator spring. For an IMPCO or Century air valve type mixer, the model EB has the higher pressure blue regulator spring.
Unless prices have gone up a lot in the last couple of years, you should be able to buy a vacuum or electric fuel lock and model E vaporizer for under $250. The metering valve to convert your NG carb to LP should be only a few $$.

Call ACME at the link below, they are good to work with on projects like this. You will have to order parts from ACME through your friendly propane dealer, as they do not sell direct.
