OT leaf springs

I have a Ford F-350 7.3 diesel with single tires and leaf springs all around. I was wondering how much more payload an add-a-leaf would add to the 1 ton orignal weight limit, or any other ways to beef up my suspension. Any info or advice would be great. Thanks guys

I would try adding the air bags instead of the leaf springs. You can adjust the pressure in the air bags to match the load you're carrying. You can't do that with leaf springs.

1 ton original weight limit? The politicaly correct don't like it, but a one-ton truck is often used to transport 2 or 3 tons around 'here'. How much does it squat with 2000 # on it? Will your tires handle the additional weight? How about overload springs?

My f250 came with 5 leafs in the back, I had 2 more put in on each side, If I remember right the guy told me it would hold about another 400 pounds. Im not sure, but my rear end was squating with the trailer on it, so adding the springs leveled off the rear of the truck with the trailer. I think any truck you buy today needs added leafs. My friend has a 04Chevy 1500, 3 leafs in the rear?? My 73 GMC 1500 CUSTOM DELUX had 5?? go figure..... cheap cheap cheap!

Your truck is a 1 ton. By trying to increase the capacity is a danger to yourself and everyone else driving near you. Be safe and get a bigger truck if you need to haul more or use a trailer within the trucks capacity. You can pull a 5th wheel or a gooseneck and haul a safe large very load with a 1 ton.

The air bag kits work great with the fords...
going larger tire size alonne with more inflation also helps load carrying capacity.
limiting factor will be brakes in the end
