OT: still too wet here.

I took the 1066 and blade down to a neighbors yesterday to remove a few small trees and some brush so it would be easier to hay.

Ended up stuck, I hooked a stump in the middle of multiflora rose overgrowth going down a short steep bank, only about 6 feet. Couldn't back up, drawbar was in the ground.

Pounded third link pin out, unhooked blade and drove right out.

But, I don't feel so foolish now. One of the big farmers here cleared some trees last fall and burned the piles.

They brought a dozer down to bury the piles. It is now buried to the top of the tracks. Wish I would have got across the road to get a picture for stuck and troubled.

Might end up with a real good stuck and troubled after while, they are trying to dig it out with a backhoe now. I look for it to get stuck too. DOUG

I started discing oat ground yesterday. Got over two fields. Chisel plowed today and disced again. Gonna try to get some in tomorrow. All the rain and snow missed us Monday. No more in the forcast til next Monday night.

Some manure is going on around here but that"s about it. There"s really nothing much that can be done until corn planting even if the ground is ready unless someone wants to do recreation tillage. Jim

Dad cut across the corner of a feild with the manure spreader while going out to the pile a couple days ago. Dualed up 285 stayed up, but he said the spreader cut in 10". That only has single 20" truck tires on it. Some ground is looking better, but I think it'll still need to sit for a good 2 weeks.

Just south of LaCrosse Wi. some of the Amish are seeding oats and some of the englishmen are disking and chisel plowing. Bob

They did get the dozer out, and used the hoe to dig the pit. The hoe is on the second pile, digging the bury pit right now. Dozer is pushing and packing on the first pile. I went to town for fuel, so didn't get to watch all the fun. DOUG

Disked twice now, first time, the last day of March. Soon's I can get the new bottoms on the plow, I'm going to start plowing. (All wear surfaces need replacing $$$$$!!) Not seeing much other field work started here, only the Amish have started much. Conditions shouldn't be a problem in some fields, just the cold!

Yep, too wet, too cold and there will be too much to do in too short period of time when it does warm up and dry out. I hate these wet springs, just screws up the whole year!

still to wet here, just north of springfield, IL. After last sundays rain and mondays snow. I may try something monday, if we dont get any rain till then

The ground has never worked nicer than this year. We got 35 acres of oats and alfalfa done withh 30 to go. Been over it all with the disc and really working nice. We have been able to haul manure but I am waiting as long as I can to reduce compaction. Need to haul about 120 loads yet 6 miles away. We are going to hire a couple custom haulers next week and run our spreader 24/7 till done.

Back "home" in Nebraska we can't get any rain. Wish I could send about half the rain we keep getting here back there. Even the wheat is in trouble from lack of snow cover and moisture this spring.

It's to wet here in SC. Only got half or corn planted, oats look great about knee high, half of our watermelons are up. We dodged a bullet two nights ago got down to 34 thank the Lord it does not seem to have hurt anything.
