Im looking to buy an oliver 1950 and would like to know if i am getting a good price. Its a 1966 oliver 1950 detroit, it has 250hrs yes 250, it need tires and comes with a 6 bottom plow, it has been sitting out side for about 5 years due to a blown up tire, it runs but the fuel system is froze open, he wants me to offer a price and i dont know with the low hours and all, and ideas?

I"d guess maybe 2000-3000 dollars. Thats if everything is there sheetmetal is good and everything works. What size tires are on it? Wide or tricycle front end? 2 or 3 speed hydrapower? Single or dual hydraulics?

Tell him to give you his lowest price for the tractor. It it sounds fair buy it, but if it's too high give him an offer what you think its worth. If you don't like the price walk away. Hal

Well, I really don't know the condition of it. If the motor needs more than WD40 to free up the linkage, than subtract value for that and if the tires are junk, subtract for that too. That six bottom plow might be worth some money. You would have to research the plow to find a value as some plows are more valuable than others.

There are good 1950 Detroits on tractorhouse with asking prices of $9,000 and $9,500. Actual selling price is quite apt to be less, so take that into consideration when trying to find the value of your find. What you don't want to do is pay too much for this old tractor and then end up having more money in it than it will be worth. These old project tractors can cost a fortune, so always plan on spending more money than you think its going to cost.

Hope this was of some help,

i sold my 1950 2 years ago for 3250, it tun great, but had to have the engine pulled to replace the bolt in the clutch linage near the throw out bearing, i had put a new clutch in it and lost the bolt, put in a different bolt 2 times, was just tried of pulling the engine, thinking new clutch had to strong of pressure plate springs, was great tractor other wise, and ya, wish i had kept it and ironed it out, but cancer was taking it s toll
