Brake Springs

This is the hub of a '61 MF35. What is a good way to remove the blue brake springs if you don't have the right pliers? Thanks. They don't look stiff but they are on tight.

Looks like you need some tools for doing drum brakes. I'm sure you could get by with some needle nose vice grips. Maybe a flat blade screwdriver could get under and pry them off. I'm sure there's more tension than you'd think.

Fence plyers..the ones with the narrow nose for pulling staples. But Do yourself a favor and go buy the right tool.

I don't see your pic so I'm not sure what spring you're dealing with... but in general, when I'm working on drum brakes on trucks, I just use a good comfortable size ViseGrip that I can get a grip on. Lock it on and pull. Two hands if necessary.
I never had much luck using 'proper' brake spring tools.

Old craftsman channel locks with the fine teeth on the end of jaws. Worked for 40 years or so. Tried the correct type and never liked it. Dave
