J D A Carb.

I have a 1946 Slant dash A. i think the carb. is DLTX 53, i put a rebuilt kit in it, and the darn thing still won"t idle. the tractor runs good on high rpm"s, but when i try to adj. it , just won"t stop loading up, thanks for any help..Ron

I don"t intend to sound flipant,,,but if you search the archives,,this sort of issue has been addressed many times.

That said,,these things can be tricky and often times you have to go beyond the "kit" and drill out all of the passageways. Even then it is easy to get discouraged. I"ve taken a few apart as many as 5 or 6 times before everything turned our perfect.
Best wishes, Harvey

The little drill plug on the stem is often overlooked. Years of rust make it feel like steel in that drill passage. You will know when it breaks thru, and sometimes it is real tough drilling it out.

Did you bead blast it or just soak it? I personaly remove every drill plug, bead blast, new bushings, both new bowl vents, remove the nozzle. So far I'm batting 100%, but I never do a quick job, everything 100% or nothing, because I do not want to have to redo one.

Those carbs are not to difficult, but pretty complicated compared to other tractors perhaps.

Every brass plug MUST be taken out and sometimes heat is required. Then every passage must have the proper drill bit run through it. Also, check the float for being heavy with gas. The throttle disc is usually worn and needs replaced.
