TO-20 Quits running after 1 hour

I have a TO-20 Fergy that will run great for 50 minutes to one hour, then starts coughing out and dies, won"t run anymore until it has set for about 1 hour. I have put new coil on, points & condenser, new starter switch. It has been converted over to 12 volt for a couple years and has been running great until lately. Everyone once in a while, the starter won"t turn, like the battery off. I though it might be vapor locking, but don"t know how to correct. Any suggestions?

Make sure that the vent on your gas cap is open and not clogged. one other thing to check , when it stops do you still have a spark, if not might be the coil.

Check for fire to your plugs ASAP when it quits. Could be the coil or conderser if there's no fire.

Take off the automotive type inline gas filter that somebody put on it and splice the gas line back together like it's supposed to be. They're not made for a gravity flow system.

It's amazing how some people are surprised when that suggestion is made, they never mention that it has one, but that ends up being the problem. I know some of those filters do let enough flow through, but that's what the sediment bowl is for and it does a good job of filtering it out anyway.

They've run for 40-50-60 years plus without one, yet some guy thinks that now a days they just gotta have one installed (poorly)...

If every once in a while, starter won't turn, maybe you better clean all connections. You are saying like a totally dead batt., right? I use inline filters on 2 farmalls and once in a real long time like once a year, migh have to disconnect at carb and blow back in line. Dave
