wanting to get some feedback on buying tractors online, especially at auction

4 years ago buying a tractor sight-unseen was absolutely unheard of; but it has come a long way

i have seen some good prices at tractorhouse's auctions but I haven't had the guts to pull the trigger yet. any tips? advice?

Darrell, I bought a John Deere tractor off ebay one time and made out well with it. I had asked the guy many questions before I bought and talked to him on the phone a few times. It has been a good machine.
The one thing to keep in mind here though, is this guy makes his living on his feedback rating. As he explained to me, he wants to be around selling for a long time and a few bad comments from people could really hurt that. I don't know that you will have that from an auction clearing house, that just gets machinery in and sends it on. Do you get to talk to the seller? Just wondering.

thanks for the help Diesel.

I looked on ebay - but didn't find a whole lot of equipment - or at least what I was looking for.

i called tractorhouse and they said that all the equipment is posted from a dealer who they personally visit. he said that you can't contact the seller, but if there is missing information they will contact them for you and add it to the listing.

Reserve the right to go pick it up and pay for it look it over if its junk refuse it. Kindo like a newspaper ad. Beware there is lots of scamms. I would be more leary of a unit at a local auction that no one knows any thing about than a private seller on line type auction. Also e on the look out for shill bidding.
