What exactly do i have? This is a Farmall MD gas/diesel engine. ID tag says: Model UD-6 seral #: UDBK-8520 Z1. BLOCK serial #: UDBKM8672
Note: Engine most recently powered some kind of construction equipment therefore it's painted yellow, but there is strong evidence of olive drab to indicate maybe military use. Mounting holes in the back of the block are the same as Fram Tractor application. Requesting year/info. for needed parts.

I once had an International UD-6 power unit. No starter, crank on front of engine. Started on gas, switched over to diesel once warmed up. Early '50's model. Same engine used in the IH TD-6 bulldozer of that era.

You kind of answered your own question. It is a UD-6 engine, which was a power unit made up of the same engine used in MD, WD-6, early (4-cylinder) TD-6.
There might have been different displacements, depeding on vintage. If you post this on the Farmall/IHC board, you will probably get more detailed answers.

It is (as described below) an industrial Power unit. With possible front cover swap, it will fit into assorted MD WD-6 tractors, and TD-6 Dozers. The engine is reliable, needs a period of warmup, cooldown, when used. They are pretty efficient, better than many early diesels, not as good as direct inject electronically controlled modern ones. Many have run 10,000+ hours with no issues. Difficulty and complexity of the service usual only after sitting for years not running. Parts are expensive. JimN
