Price of Vermont Maple Syrup?

Has anybody got a clue what 2009 crop is going to be priced at? Bulk price in a barrel was $4 per pound just before the season started, but I haven't heard anything more. I would like to know if the price is headed up or down?

I just bought a quart from a friend's sugar house in southern NH $20.00 The glut in Canada is gone so the price is going up.

I'm trying to price my gallons of syrup this year, but I don't know what to charge, and won't until after the season is over, and the goverment survey results are in.

I know the price increase is due to the Canadian surplus being all gone and it created a world wide shortage of syrup, but the question is, did everybody have a good season? I know more trees were tapped this year, and my neighbors all had a pretty good year, so is there still going to be a shortage?

What I am hearing from around here is late start, good season bur certainly not a great one virtually no light syrup being produced. Try contacting David fuller at Fuller Sugar house in Lancaster NH he would probably share with you.

I was just in the local John Deere dealer today, they were selling local (SW Michigan) maple syrup for $35.00/gallon, I thought it would be more.
